Concept Website Not a client project. Shown to demonstrate approach and craft.

Context

Neighbourhood cafés often rely on delivery apps and an Instagram grid. Neither gives customers a quick, clear way to browse the menu and order directly.

The problem

Customers message the café asking for the menu and prices, then type out their order by hand, with mistakes and back-and-forth.

Objective

Design a fast menu site where customers can pick items and send a correctly formatted order on WhatsApp in a few taps.

Role

Concept, UX, visual design and front-end build by Orbit Hive.

Constraints

Fictional business with sample menu items and prices. No backend, so it must work as a lightweight static site.

Approach

  • Menu organised by moment (breakfast, coffee, snacks) instead of a long list
  • A sticky order bar that shows the item count and total
  • The order message is composed automatically: items, quantities, total and delivery details
  • Timings, delivery area and directions visible without searching

Technical notes

Static HTML, CSS and a small amount of JavaScript. Orders use a WhatsApp deep link, with no database required.

Outcome

No measured outcome to report. This is a concept website, not a client deployment. We only publish results we have actually measured.

What we learned

A pre-formatted order message removes most back-and-forth. The same pattern suits bakeries, sweet shops and small retailers.

Next-step ideas

Connect the menu to a Google Sheet so the café can update prices without touching code, and add a simple kitchen-side order log.
